Morocco is often mistaken for being a desert, but it is actually a four-season country with a Mediterranean climate in coastal areas and warm temperatures year-round in inland areas. A cool sea current off northern Africa brings refreshing breezes to the coast, and fogs are common in summer, especially along the southern coast of Morocco (Essaouira, Agadir).
Although it can be hot and dry in Marrakesh and other imperial cities in the southwest during peak summer months, a strong westerly wind usually blows in from the Atlantic Ocean, keeping things comfortable. Autumn and spring are also great times to visit, with mild weather that is much cooler than in the summer.
If you want to avoid high temperatures, however, it is best to visit during the shoulder seasons of September and April or from mid-November to February. These months are not only more pleasant, but the crowds are noticeably smaller as well.
The wet season in Marrakesh lasts for 6.0 months, with the greatest amount of rainfall occurring in November. The month with the least rain is May, with a mere 0.0 days with precipitation.
